FAQ
How do I take Alz-Halt with hemp or other Alz-Halt capsules?
It is best to swallow an Alz-Halt capsule with plenty of water to wash it down. It may help to eat a cracker, bread or piece of fruit with the water AFTER swallowing the pill to help push the pill into the stomach.
Alz-Halt with hemp contains only tiny traces of THC; one cannot become intoxicated from Alz-Halt with hemp. Hemp does contain CBD and the CBD molecule has the same formula and weight as the THC molecule, but with a small difference. That difference makes all the difference in how the molecule affects the body.
CBD does not activate the CB1 receptor protein as THC does. Thus, CBD does NOT make the user high. CBD does have a calming and relaxing effect for most people, but this is not intoxication. However, the relaxing effect can help with anxiety and depression. Studies verify that CBD helps Alzheimer’s patients who express agitation and depression.
What is CBDA and how does it work?
CBDA and THCA have the same molecular formula (C22,H30,O4) and thus the same molecular weight (358 atomic mass units). CBDA and THCA can lose carbon dioxide upon heating to become CBD and THC, respectively. Chemists call this decarboxylation, and the process occurs naturally over time. When one smokes THCA-containing cannabis, the heat converts the THCA to THC, which is the psychoactive molecule.
Humanity has long known that cannabis acts to reduce nausea. More recently, scientists have compared CBDA to CBD and THC, and discovered that CBDA is hundreds to thousands of times more effective at reducing nausea caused by chemotherapy. It is this remarkable effectiveness that makes “StopsNausea” the safest anti-nausea remedy available.
The scientists believe that CBDA may work by interacting with a receptor called the 5-HT3 receptor (5-hydroxytryptamine_3 receptor). The CB1 and CB2 receptors may also be affected, but those effects don’t appear important. Doctors sometimes prescribe drugs for nausea (ondansetron, Kytril, Dolasetron) that target the 5-HT3 receptor. However, these synthetic drugs may be hard on the liver and kidneys. CBDA comes from a natural plant and Humanity has used it for millennia.
How is CBD different from marijuana?
Hemp and cannabis are the same plant, but they have been bred to produce different products. People bred hemp to produce fiber for rope and cloth, while cannabis sativa was bred to product THCA, the precursor to THC.
Hemp primarily produces Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA). Cannabis produces CBDA or THCA (the precursor to the psychoactive THC). Cannabis makes CBDA or THCA, or both. Hemp plants produce CBDA and tiny amounts of THCA. The US government classifies cannabis plants that produce less than 0.3% THC as hemp, but there is no real difference between the two.
Over time or when heated, CBDA turns into CBD, and THCA turns into THC.
In addition to THC, hemp plants produce over 100 other related molecules which are labeled as cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes. Many of these compounds have activity in mammals because they mimic molecules that the body uses for signaling like hormones.
While people knew the effects of cannabinoids for millennia, scientists discovered that our bodies produce and use our own cannabinoids, and these are called endocannabinoids. Both cannabis cannabinoids and internally produced endocannabinoids interact with receptor proteins sitting on nerve cell membranes.
While most of the CB1 receptors occur in the brain, the CB2 receptors occur throughout the body, but particularly on white blood cells that control inflammation. When cannabinoids attach to one or another of these receptors, they trigger a reaction that is often found to help regulate appetite, pain, mood, and many other features.
How is Alz-Halt with hemp manufactured?
Leafyceuticals’ produces its premium remedies from herbs; no pesticide or preservatives are used. The natural form of the ingredients provides rapid absorption and relief. The bioactive molecules are not encapsulated and quickly pass through the stomach lining. Leafyceuticals conforms to the FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Alz-Halt contains naturally grown hemp flowers that are non-GMO, and free of solvent, heavy metals and microbes. The product is tested and test results are posted electronically.
What is the difference between broad- and full-spectrum CBD?
The industry describes a CBD extract as being “Full-Spectrum” when it contains all the phytochemicals found in the natural plant. A full spectrum product includes CBD, other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Full-spectrum extracts from hemp also contain less than 0.3% THC by weight, which cannot cause intoxication.
A consumer will never feel high from the THC present in Alz-Halt with hemp. However, use of Alz-Halt could result in a false positive drug test. Drug tests are extremely sensitive and pick up the presence of THC even if the consumer was never high.
Some companies extract hemp and with further chemical processing, can remove the THC. These THC-free extracts are called “Broad Spectrum”. Leafyceuticals does not use such extracts to produce Alz-Halt with hemp.
What is the “Entourage Effect”?
The War on Drugs stopped almost all research into cannabinoids. Most of what is known has been found in the last couple of decades, but much more remains to be found. One of the findings seems to be that cannabinoids work better when used together rather than consumed as pure pharmaceuticals. Doctors have prescribed synthetic THC for many patients. Many did not like the effect from synthetic THC, and preferred the natural THC inhaled from smoking cannabis sativa.
Scientists describe the “Entourage Effect” to refer to improved result of using all the cannabinoids together, as when the plant is used directly or when all the compounds are extracted together and then consumed. Researchers must work to understand these complex interactions as compared to the study of a single drug. The components in hemp appear to work together to enhance the benefits of the primary molecules, CBDA and CBD.
Consumers using natural hemp products may find reduced ‘side effects.’ Indeed, CBD acts to reduce the effects of THC and CBD can be given to people who have consumed too much THC.
Scientists describe the Entourage Effect as a ‘synergistic’ reaction, again meaning that the constituent molecules work together in the body. Some research suggests that some cannabinoids may be extremely potent in their effect, even though they are present at very low concentrations. Scientists have found that cannabis extracts can work against cultured cancer cell lines, and some experiments show that the effectiveness requires the presence of rare cannabinoids even though they are present in extremely low concentrations.
What dosage should I take?
Millions of people have used CBD with no side effects. Even so, it is always wise to “Start low and go slow”. That means, try a single dose or less if you are sensitive. Build on your experience. If you need more, try more when it is safe to do so. Start small and gradually increase if needed. Less is more, but some people may perceive an increase in tolerance. The biology and biochemistry of people and animals varies a lot, and that chemistry changes with time, diet, exercise and other environmental factors. CBD and hemp appear to be remarkably safe to use. Your physician may know more, but political history has hindered some physicians from getting proper training on this subject. Also, the science is rapidly changing and improving every day.
How do powdered flowers compare to extracts?
Alz-Halt capsules contain the natural hemp flowers after making them into a powder. At Leafyceuticals, a skilled technician grinds and sterilizes the flowers. The technician puts the sifted powder into a machine that locks the powder in capsules.
Other hemp companies use solvents to extract the resin from the flowers. The flowers are filtered out and the solvent boiled away. The industry describes this crude resin as Full Spectrum, meaning that it contains most of the components present in the flowers.
Alz-Halt with hemp and StopsNausea products are composed of the natural flowers and thus are also “Full Spectrum.”
Should I use Alz-Halt with hemp or StopsNausea if I am subject to drug testing?
Do not consume Alz-Halt with hemp if a positive drug test for THC can result in loss of a job or other responsibility or privilege. Current military policy forbids Service Members from using CBD-containing products. Alz-Halt with hemp does contain traces of THC so if one is subject to drug testing where that testing looks for THC, a positive result is possible. Batch test results for Alz-Halt with hemp can be found on the website and retrieved by scanning the QR symbol.
Are service members allowed to use Alz-Halt with hemp or StopsNausea?
Unfortunately, CBD products are completely forbidden for use by any and all military service members. Alz-Halt with hemp and StopsNausea contain traces of THC and these can show up on a drug test looking for THC. Such a result might be called a “False Positive”
Who shouldn't take CBD products?
Women who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding should not take Alz-Halt or other CBD products. Politics have slowed research on cannabinoids safety information on pregnant and breastfeeding is not yet available. Pregnant or breastfeeding ladies should avoid taking a CBD-containing product like Alz-Halt or StopsNausea.
Parkinson’s disease: Alz-Halt with hemp should be avoided in patients with Parkinson’s. Cannabidiol may make muscle movement and tremors worse in people with Parkinson’s disease. Therefore, Alz-Halt with hemp is not recommended for people with Parkinson’s disease.
If you have a history of hypersensitivity, it may be best to perform a scratch test, applying the powder to very light scratched skin. Simply rub the powder on the outside of your arm. If inflammation or itching develops, do not use Alz-Halt. Don’t use Alz-Halt with hemp if you have a history of sensitivity to cannabis, cannabidiol or any of the ingredients in the product.
Before you start taking a hemp-based product like Alz-Halt, you should consult with your physician. Inform your doctor of other medications that you are taking before you take Alz-Halt with hemp.
